Connie's dog cafe
A Branding & Menu Speculative Design Project

Creating a fictional dog cafe inspired by my own dog, Connie. Using minimal colours, playful illustrations, and hand-drawn fonts. This project focuses on branding, illustration, experiential design, and menu design, and is aimed at millennial/Gen Z 'dog parents'.
The Challenge
To create a dog cafe that encapsulates a youthful & fun feel with a subtle canine influence.
Research & Inspiration

Research shows that dogs can only see blue & yellow
Real dog cafe - warmth added with wood furnishings and plants
Inspiring menu designs and restaurant branding - combo of illustration and minimalism
Close up of Connie's fur - shades of creams, blondes, whites
Connie the dog!
Real dog cafe, love the exposed brick and dog beds

Key words - Dog-friendly, warm, playful, yellow, cute, graphic, minimal
The Design Process
Colour Palette

The primary colour is yellow - inspired by my dog as well as the fact that yellow is one of the only colours dogs can see. This is complemented by accents of orange and blue to add a pop of colour and emulate a feeling of warmth/sunshine. The black then grounds the colours and adds a more cartoon-like feel.
Typography
graphics

Primary Font - Hand-drawn by me., adds a playful and personal touch that aligns with a casual, dog-friendly approach. An eye-catching header font.
Secondary Font - Counterbalances the organic forms of the hand-drawn type. Adds a clean, structured feel that ensures the functional text remains clear.
